Kenya’s Passport Ranked 130th Globally in October 2026 Index
The ranking is updated quarterly, allowing changes in international visa policies and entry requirements to be reflected in subsequent editions.

Kenyan passport holders can access 99 destinations without obtaining a traditional embassy visa in advance, according to the latest passport ranking published by IZiVisas.
Kenya’s passport has been ranked 130th globally in the October 2026 edition of the iZiVisas passport ranking, which compares 196 passports across 198 destinations based on short-stay entry requirements.
The ranking shows that Kenyan travellers can access 99 destinations without a prior consular visa application, although the entry conditions vary by destination. These include 38 destinations offering visa-free entry, 22 providing visas on arrival and 39 accepting electronic visa applications (e-visas).
However, travellers holding Kenyan passports still require an embassy visa to visit 99 destinations, highlighting the entry restrictions they may encounter when planning international trips.
In East Africa, Uganda ranked 139th, with access to 96 destinations without a prior embassy visa application. Tanzania followed at 143rd, with access to 95 destinations, while Rwanda ranked 146th, with access to 94 destinations under the ranking’s classification.
E-visas counted separately
Unlike the Henley Passport Index, iZiVisas separates electronic visas from embassy visas, arguing that applying online presents a different level of administrative difficulty from attending a consular appointment.
Under its methodology, destinations are classified according to whether travellers can enter visa-free, obtain a visa on arrival, apply for an e-visa or secure a traditional embassy visa before departure.
The distinction provides a more detailed picture of travel access by showing not only the number of destinations available to passport holders but also the procedures required to enter them.
The ranking is updated quarterly, allowing changes in international visa policies and entry requirements to be reflected in subsequent editions.
What the ranking means for Kenyan travellers
For Kenyan travellers, the figures offer a snapshot of the documentation and planning required for international trips. While visa-free access eliminates the need to obtain a visa before departure, visa-on-arrival and e-visa arrangements may still involve fees, documentation and other conditions.
Travellers should confirm the latest entry requirements with the relevant destination’s authorities or embassy before booking a trip, as visa policies can change and additional entry conditions may apply.
