G42, Mistral AI Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance AI Development

Abu Dhabi-based technology company, G42 has partnered with Mistral AI, an AI firm headquartered in Paris to co-develop next-generation AI platforms and infrastructure.

The announcement, made during the Choose France event, aligns with the broader AI cooperation agreements supported by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Emmanuel Macron.

This initiative underscores the growing collaboration between the UAE and France in the AI sector and reflects their shared commitment to fostering innovation and accessibility in the field.

G42 will leverage its operational scale and advanced AI capabilities, particularly through its subsidiaries Core42 and Inception, which specialize in AI infrastructure and platform development, respectively.

Mistral AI will contribute its expertise in frontier research and cutting-edge products, particularly in the development of open large language models. The combination of these strengths aims to create a robust foundation for AI innovation.

The collaboration spans the entire AI value chain, from model training and infrastructure development to the creation of industry-specific applications.

The partnership will focus on regions such as Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South, with an emphasis on expanding access to AI technologies in underserved areas. The integration of Mistral AI’s platforms with G42’s AI stack will be designed with technical autonomy and intellectual property governance to protect innovation while enabling scalable deployment.

Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, commented, “This partnership reflects a new approach to AI development, balancing sovereignty with interoperability and ambition with accountability. Together, we are building a foundation for a future where trust and transparency are essential.”

Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, added, “G42 shares our vision of making powerful, open artificial intelligence accessible to all. This alliance will not only accelerate our progress but also ensure that the benefits of AI are distributed beyond traditional tech hubs.”

As part of the agreement, Mistral AI will explore opportunities for collaboration with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi. The partnership will focus on advanced research in foundational models, talent development, and translating cutting-edge research into practical AI solutions.

Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Our shared commitment to innovation, collaboration, accessibility, and inclusion makes this partnership ideally suited to advancing AI research for the benefit of all.”

The G42-Mistral AI partnership represents a significant step in fostering AI innovation and promoting economic opportunity and inclusive growth, particularly in regions that have historically lacked access to advanced technology infrastructure.
