KWAL hosts over 50 women industrialists at its Tatu City plant for KAM’s 10th industry visit
Executives from the Kenya Association of Manufacturers’ Women in Manufacturing programme toured the beverage maker’s facility and joined a fireside chat on leadership and local value addition.

Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) hosted more than 50 women business executives and industrialists from the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Women in Manufacturing (WiM) programme at its manufacturing facility in Tatu City. The visit was the 10th episode of KAM’s WiM Industry Visit Series.
The delegation toured KWAL’s beverage production and packaging lines, then joined an executive fireside chat on resilient leadership, local value addition and brand scaling.
According to KWAL, manufacturing contributes about 7.6% of Kenya’s GDP. The government and private sector are targeting 20% by 2030 under the Kenya Industrialization Agenda. KWAL says the sector supports more than 330,000 formal jobs.
KWAL Managing Director Lina Githuka said: “Local manufacturing is not just about output; it is the cornerstone of sustainable economic transformation, job creation, and foreign exchange preservation.
Achieving Kenya’s industrialization goals requires heavy investment in world-class standards and deliberate spaces for women to lead from the factory floor to the boardroom. Our partnership with KAM WiM reflects our shared conviction that when women drive industrial leadership, the entire manufacturing value chain prospers.”
Discussions led by KWAL’s leadership and Lynda Oluoch, Regulatory and Policy Manager at KAM, covered how manufacturers can handle regulatory shifts, adopt sustainable practices and use automation without costing local jobs.
“Women-led enterprises account for roughly a third of micro, small, and medium-sized industries in Kenya, yet they remain underrepresented in core industrial leadership,” Oluoch said.
KWAL describes the Tatu City plant as a multi-billion-shilling investment and says it was recently certified as the only EDGE Advanced manufacturer in Kenya.
