TikTok has hit 1 billion monthly active users globally marking a 45 per cent jump since July 2020, signalling a significant milestone.

The short video platform has a reach of millions of people, across generations right from music, food, beauty and fashion to art.

“More than 1 billion people around the world now come to TikTok every month to be entertained as they learn, laugh, or discover something new. We’re honoured to be a home for our immensely diverse community of families, small businesses, and creators who transform into our favourite star,” TikTok said in a statement.

The firm privately held and owned by the Chinese company Bytedance, has become the most successful short-form video apps, which has seen many of its large-tech competitors racing to recreate their own versions.
